Sales soar for Lexus hybrids in the UK and Europe

Demand is soaring for Lexus self-charging hybrids both in the UK and across Europe. Half-year sales figures show particularly strong performances from the most recently launched models, the UX compact SUV and ES luxury saloon. Read more here and here.

Lexus confirms convertible LC

Lexus has confirmed it will build a convertible version of its LC flagship coupe. The announcement was followed by an early appearance for a prototype version of the new model in front of the crowds at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Read more here.

A car for art’s sake

The new UX provided the canvas for four contemporary artists competing in the finals of the UX Art Car Competition. The winner, selected by visitors to the Arts & Elegance Richard Mille celebration of luxury motoring and lifestyles in France, transformed the SUV’s bodywork into a shimmering surface, like the scales of a fish. RC F prospers in North American GT3 racing

The Lexus RC F GT3 has powered to the top of the North American IMSA sportscar series’s Sprint Cup Championship, with a string of race wins and podium results for the AIM Vasser Sullivan team. Most recently Townsend Bell and Frankie Montecalvo drove the car to third place in the race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. Read more here.

Luxury yacht breaks cover

First images have been released of the LY 650, Lexus’s first luxury yacht. Created by specialist boat-builders Marquis Yachts, the new craft is expected to make its global debut later this year. Read more here.

Britain’s best car brand

Lexus has been named Britain’s best car brand in the 2019 Which? Awards, in recognition of the quality of its cars and the service provided to customers. Read more here.

Advanced headlight technology lined up for the new RX

Lexus will introduce a world-first LED headlight system on a new, revised RX luxury SUV later this year. BladeScan improves the performance of automatic, adaptive lighting, giving a wider field of illumination without the risk of dazzling other road users. Read more here.

Inspirational colours

Inspiration is the name for a series of special edition Lexus models in the USA, a range that now includes the LS 500 limousine. Set for launch in North America this autumn, the car has an exclusive Deep Garnet paint finish, 20-inch wheels in Black Vapor Chrome and a white and black interior with kiriko glass detailing on interior door panels. The new UX compact SUV has gained a top five-star safety rating from independent test organisation Euro NCAP. Its excellent performance achieved best-in-class results, supported by the performance of its Lexus Safety System+ active safety and driver assistance systems. Read more here.
