Lexus Team GB become five-time World Team Cup champions
Lexus congratulates the Lexus Team GB men’s wheelchair tennis team who won the BNP Paribas World Team Cup for a fifth time on Saturday, beating the holders Japan 2-1.
The championship was sealed at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, with victories for Gordon Reid in the singles competition and for Reid and his partner Alfie Hewett in the doubles, fresh from their recent successes at the US Open.
Alfie Hewett, a Lexus ambassador, said: “It’s the first time it’s come down to the deciding doubles for us, so I’m just really happy that we got over the line. It’s always a privilege to play for your country and there’s been a great atmosphere and team spirit again this week between all the lads.
“I’m a bit disappointed that it wasn’t a 100 per cent day for me after my loss in the singles, but it was a high-level match and just came down to a few points in both sets that could have gone either way.”
