New sales records
Lexus sold more than 675,000 cars worldwide and more than 74,000 in Europe in 2016, both record high figures. In the UK annual sales totalled 13,913 vehicles, a rise of 4.9 per cent on the volume achieved in 2015.
All-new LS revealed in Detroit
The all-new Lexus LS 500 made its world debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, a new flagship model for the Lexus range. Powered by a new twin-turbo V6 engine and featuring a 10-speed automatic transmission, the model follows the LC coupe in being built on Lexus’s new GA-L platform. The luxury interior was honoured with an EyesOn Design award for excellence. Read more about the new LS here and about the design award here.
Lexus launches Sport Yacht Concept
Lexus has applied its luxury design and advanced engineering skills to crafting its first Sport Yacht. The concept, powered by twin V8 engines, took the water for its world debut in Florida, demonstrating the further development of Lexus as a lifestyle brand. Read more here.
RC F GT3 is race-ready
A full season of international GT racing awaits the Lexus RC F GT3, which will compete in both the IMSA series in the USA and the GT300 class in Japan’s Super GT championship. The coupe will make its 2017 US debut next weekend at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Read more here.
Lexus heads for space
Lexus has been working with film director Luc Besson and the creative team behind the forthcoming sci-fi blockbuster Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, collaborating on the design of a futuristic pursuit aircraft. A full-size replica of the Skyjet has been unveiled by the movie’s title star, Dane DeHaan, who “pilots” the machine in the film’s fast-action chase sequences. Read more here.
