Lexus Is The Grandest Brand In 1999
Prestige car brand Lexus has eclipsed a host of formidable rivals to become the fastest growing car company in the UK in 1999.
Official figures charting full year sales growth for 1998 against 1999 year to date show Lexus has achieved over 104 per cent growth – well over three times that managed by any of the German luxury car brands. 1999 is the third consecutive year of growth for Lexus and its best ever year in the UK car market since its beginnings at the start of the decade.
Figures to the end of November this year show Lexus has sold 6,555 cars into the luxury sector of a UK car market which is over 26 per cent down to the end of November year to date.
Such formidable sales growth in a shrinking market has been primarily driven by the introduction in May of the Lexus IS200. With nearly 5000 sales to its credit, the little IS200 has garnered high praise from the motoring press and customers alike.
The millennium year will see the brand’s product line-up increase to four models with the introduction of the RX300 sport utility vehicle in the autumn plus other major introductions. Creation of a new look Lexus franchise will also continue as the company continues to roll out its 55-strong network of distinctive new Lexus centres.
