Lexus took the wraps of a new concept car at the Paris motor show, pointing the way ahead for both design features and a new hybrid powertrain that are set to become part its production car portfolio.
The LF-CC show car was the centrepiece of Lexus’s show stand, a medium-size 2+2 rear-wheel drive sports coupe engineered to achieve sub-100g/km CO2 emissions from a full hybrid system that features a 2.5-litre petrol engine.
A more imminent new arrival in Lexus showrooms is the new LS , which made its western European debut at Paris.
Away from the motor show spotlight, the full hybrid CT 200h has been refreshed for 2013, with a revision of the line-up that brings a new entry-level S grade model to the road. Notably this newcomer achieves even lower emissions – 87g/km – while maintaining Lexus hallmark quality and refinement.
The CT 200h remains the only full hybrid in the luxury hatchback market, making its hugely appealing to business and company car drivers. The car’s popularity has helped drive a healthy increase in fleet sales in the first nine months of this year.
Almost half of UK adults say they can find some welcome peace and quiet inside their car, according to a new survey from Quiet Mark, sponsored by Lexus. If their car’s a Lexus they are likely to find the cabin a calmer and quieter place than in any other model, as Lexus has made a quiet on-board environment a top priority ever since it first began designing cars.
