Young Stars Excel in Lexus Junior Rugby Festival
The Lexus Junior Rugby Festival enjoyed a thrilling climax as the top teams from among dozens of competing squads nationwide fought for glory.
The finals, hosted at the Old Albanians RFC ground in St Albans, on 7 April, brought together the winning sides from four regional festivals. High levels of playing skill and sportsmanship were displayed as the youngsters contested honours in five age groups, from under-13 to under-17.
On the road to the finals, the festival was supported by every Lexus Centre on the UK mainland, each one backing the junior section of its local team. The sponsorship package included a series of special events and Lexus-branded rugby shirts for those taking part.
In all more than 4,500 young players took to the field in the festival.
The results were:
- Under-13 winners Derby, runners-up Canterbury
- Under-14 winners Norwich, runners-up Derby
- Under-15 winners Old Albanians, runners-up Exeter
- Under-16 winners Olney, runners-up Penrith
- Under-17 winners Rosslyn Park, runners-up Penrith
