Lexus Tops For Security And Reliability

3 August 2001

Lexus scoops top place for the third consecutive year in the league table for What Car? Security Supertest 2001. This year the flagship LS430 tops the table in the executive/luxury car category maintaining the Lexus record as the only company ever to score 100 points from a full house of ticks across the results table.

The security test team at What Car? evaluated many aspects of the LS430 including two attack tests and various other features such as marked parts, laminated side glass, alarm and radio security. The Lexus was voted the clear winner out of 67 different cars tested.

In addition the LS430 achieved a double five star rating from the official Government-backed New Car Security Ratings scheme. This is based on testing carried out by the Motor Industry Repair Research Centre (MIRRC) at Thatcham for the Association of British Insurers (ABI) and Lloyd’s.

These two accolades will assure customers and potential buyers that Lexus continues to offer one of the most secure product ranges on the market. Customer confidence in the growing brand remains very strong with sales up 36.3 per cent over last year. Sales for the first six months of 2001 look set to place Lexus as the fastest growing prestige brand in the UK, for the third year running.

Security is not the only area commended by Lexus customers this week, Which? magazine’s reliability survey of its 34,000 members places IS200 top of the Reliability League Table with a 100% score. The survey, showing no breakdowns during the previous year for the top scoring mid-sized Lexus model, will encourage buyers to make an intelligent choice based on a history of trouble-free motoring for total peace of mind.

Lexus is renowned for attention to detail with its build quality, yet excellent results from surveys such as the JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey and the Which? Reliability Survey proves that Lexus owners are just as delighted with the level of service they receive from the dedicated Lexus Centre network as with the product itself.

The growing luxury brand launched its first sport coupe model this month, the SC430, which is already sold out until spring 2002. This exciting new coupe can be transformed from a coupe to a full convertible in 25 seconds and will be joined by the versatile IS300 SportCross and much-awaited IS300 saloon in October.
