Lexus Sports Coupe Sold Out For 2001
Following the UK debut of the Lexus sports coupe concept at the Birmingham International Motor Show, Lexus GB has filled its 2001 production availability with over 200 deposits taken. It is estimated that vehicles ordered today will be delivered in spring 2002.
The elegantly-styled Lexus SC430, the first-ever convertible model from the marque, is powered by a new Lexus 4.3-litre V8 VVT-i engine which has a power output of 278bhp and is capable of 150mph. The luxury Lexus sports coupe rivals will include Mercedes SL, Porsche 911 Cabriolet and Jaguar XK8 and will be priced at over £50,000.
Engineered with European driving conditions in mind, a great emphasis is placed on refined performance, high-speed stability and driving pleasure. The rear-wheel drive SC430 takes Lexus into new territory with state of the art automotive technology and a retractable hard-top allowing the driver to change the SC430 from a convertible to a coupé in a matter of seconds.
A high level of standard equipment is offered with a multitude of convenient features for the stylish interior including one of the world’s most advanced climate control systems for more top-down driving time than conventional convertibles and a Mark Levinson audio system featuring nine custom-designed speakers and steering wheel audio controls.
