Lexus Retains Reliability Honours in the What Car? Awards
Lexus has once again been honoured as the UK’s most reliable car brand in the What Car? Awards, following on from its exceptional results in the 2020 What Car? Reliability Survey.
Its sustained success reflects the brand’s commitment to ensuring lasting quality in every car it makes, and providing the best possible customer service should a problem occur. The What Car? survey recorded the real-world experiences of almost 13,000 UK drivers of vehicles ranging in age from brand new to five years old, but the magazine also found Lexus reliability enduring for years beyond that timescale.
The award further reinforces the status of Lexus’s self-charging hybrid electric technology as being exceptionally robust and reliable, year after year.
Announcing the award today, What Car? Editor Steve Huntingford commented: “Lexus has dominated our reliability charts for the past four years, and in 2020 it achieved an outstanding reliability rating of 98.7 per cent for cars aged up to five years old, with owners reporting very few faults, and those that did occur being fixed quickly and for free. What’s perhaps even more impressive, though, was the fact that Lexus scored 96.0% for cars aged between six and 20 years old.”
Ewan Shepherd, Director of Lexus in the UK, said: “Our reputation for reliability is not something we take for granted, it’s a quality we are constantly working to improve. This is particularly true as we introduce a new generation of vehicles in our Lexus Electrified programme, led by the new UX 300e. The technology in our first battery electric vehicle may be new, but we expect it to be as reassuringly reliable as our hybrid electric models.”
