Model changes for 2022

This autumn sees the roll-out of a series of updates for Lexus models, introducing specifications for the 2022 model year.

The most significant upgrades are for the ES hybrid electric luxury saloon, which benefits from styling, equipment, safety and ride and handling improvements. Highlights include a new 12.3-inch touchscreen for the navigation and multimedia system, expanded Lexus Safety System features and functionality and the introduction of the advanced BladeScan Adaptive High-beam system. Full details are available here.

Comfort and convenience are the focus for the RX and seven-seat RX L large luxury SUVs. The RX 450h now has a heated steering wheel as standard and the RX 450h L’s power back door has gained a kick sensor for hands-free operation. Customers who specify their RX 450h L Premium Pack with the Tech and Safety Pack can now also opt for a six-seat cabin lay-out with individual second row seats. Heated rear seats are now included in the equipment for the RX 450h Premium Pack model with the Tech and Safety Pack option.

The colour choices for the RX have been revised, with new shades Sonic Grey and Sonic Platinum joining the list. Lexus’s sonic paints use advanced techniques to compress the paint into very thin layers in which the colour pigments can produce a much deeper lustre and contrasts across the car’s bodywork – read more here.

The Lexus UX hybrid electric compact luxury SUV is sporting a new look with the addition of body-colour-matched wheel arch trims on the F Sport and Takumi grade models and a new Sonic Silver special paint option. UX Premium Sport Edition customers also have an additional interior upholstery option – White Ash Tahara.

The RC F high-performance coupe now comes as standard with a bespoke Mark Levinson 17-speaker audio system as standard, together with a Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The RC F entry grade adopts the forged, polished grey metallic 19-inch wheels featured elsewhere in the range, but with a lighter finish. The top-of-the-range Track Edition model now comes with new Alcantara trim for the steering wheel and gear shift and blue interior trim highlights in place of the previous red finish.

Takumi craftsmanship competition

Lexus and Sky Arts have launched a competition to celebrate high-quality and original craftsmanship. The In Search of Takumi competition is open to people working with five materials used by Lexus to give its vehicles hand-crafted luxury appeal: wood, paper, leather, glass and metal.
