Lexus Design Award 2018 Open For Entries, Inspired by the Concept of “Co-“
The 2018 Lexus Design Award opens for entries today, with designers and creators around the world invited to submit new concepts inspired by the theme of the prefix “Co-“. Established in 2013, the annual award is an international platform for a new generation of creative talent and a key element in Lexus’s commitment to building a better world through design.
Each year the award attracts thousands of entries, from which an expert panel of judges draw up a list of 12 finalists. Once again, these finalists will have their projects displayed by Lexus at Milan Design Week, the world’s leading international design showcase. Among them, four will be selected to develop their concept into a prototype, mentored by established global designers and supported with a production budget of around £21,000.
The theme for this year’s competition is “Co-“, a Latin prefix that means together with, or in harmony. Lexus believes that great design can help build a harmonious co-existence of nature and society.
The judges and mentors for the 2018 award will be announced in August. As in previous years, Lexus will be partnering with a group of renowned professionals who embody design excellence in different design disciplines around the world. All share Lexus’s belief that great design can make the world a better place.
Entries for the award are being accepted from today through to 8 October. Details of the application process are available at LexusDesignAward.com. The finalists will be revealed early in 2018.
