How would you design a tattoo for a car? Lexus UK calls for creative designs
Following the recent reveal of a UX SUV tattooed by artist Claudia De Sabe, Lexus is continuing its celebration of design and craftsmanship by inviting people to create their own designs for a tattooed car. One artwork will be selected from a shortlist of eight entries and will be revealed in all its glory by transforming a Lexus UX using a vinyl wrap.
How to submit your design
1: Download the high-resolution templates by clicking here. A new window will open with a pdf file.
2: Select ‘download’ in the top right-hand corner to save the file onto a device. If using a mobile device, press and hold the images below, then save to the camera roll.
3: The UX template could be printed out and the design applied using crayons, pens, or paint, or the artwork could be added digitally on a tablet, laptop, or mobile. The design must be in a tattoo style and every angle on the template supplied must be filled in.
4: Lexus invites people to share their designs on its Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels, including the @LexusUK tag and the hashtag #MyTattooCar. For an official entry to the challenge, designs need to be emailed to tattoocar@ld.lexus.co.uk by 5pm on Tuesday 9 June, including the entrant’s name, age, social media handles and a couple of sentences about what inspired the design.
The public vote
Entries will be posted on Lexus UK channels in a World Cup style tournament and after the closing date the Lexus UK social media team will select the eight best artworks and will apply them to a 3D model of a Lexus UX, images of which will be sent to the finalists to keep.
One overall winner will be selected via a public vote using Facebook and Twitter polls, which will be open from Monday 22 June to Friday 10 July 2020. The Winner will be notified by Friday 17 July and in addition to seeing their tattoo design come to life on a full-size Lexus UX as a vinyl wrap, they will also be invited to a studio to be professionally photographed, as a permanent reminder of their achievement. The images will also be published on Lexus UK social media channels and Lexus will feature an interview with the successful designer on the Lexus UK blog.
