Arriva Forges Ahead With Lexus In The Bristol Area
Transport giant Arriva plc has reached an agreement to become the sole representative for the Lexus car franchise in the Bristol area.
Arriva is investing £1.6 million in the construction of a new stand-alone Lexus facility at Pioneer Park on Whitby Road in Bristol scheduled to open in 1999.
Arriva will have the ideal geographic location to serve Lexus customers in the Bristol catchment area with coverage extending from Berkley in Gloucestershire to Chew Valley Lake and as far west as Bath.
Commenting on the appointment, Lexus (GB) General Manager Kevin Flynn said, “We are delighted Arriva is to represent Lexus in the Bristol area. This facility will be one of the first to open during 1999. Across the UK there will be 55 new Lexus dealerships.
“Next year’s pan-European introduction of new Lexus facilities will deliver the highest possible standards of customer service to our existing customers and those new to the Lexus brand.”
The new one-and-a-half acre site at Pioneer Park will create 20 jobs. It will offer a full range of services including a collection, delivery and courtesy car service while its design will reflect a new Lexus customer experience in an innovative and unique showroom design.
Lexus (GB) has already broken all its previous full year sales records this year and is on course to sell around 3300 cars by the year end. With the addition of its new compact executive car, the IS200, from May 1999 Lexus sales next year are tipped to pass 8000 units.
