Lexus achieves its first podium place at the Le Mans 24 Hours

16 June 2026
  • No78 AKKODIS ASP Team Lexus RC F races to second in the LMGT3 class
  • Lexus’ first Le Mans podium in just its third appearance at the legendary race
  • Strong race performance from the No87 RC F secures fourth place in class
  • Lexus pushing boundaries to establish itself as a serious contender in the FIA World Endurance Championship

A Lexus RC F car claimed second place in the LMGT3 class at the 94th Le Mans 24 Hours at the weekend, giving Lexus its first podium in the legendary race, the third road of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The ability of the car to withstand the exceptional demands of the around-the-clock race testify to the superior engineering quality that can be found in all Lexus cars.

The No78 car entered by the AKKODIS ASP Team and drive by Tom van Rompuy (Belgium), Hadrien David (France) and Jack Hawksworth (UK) finished ahead of more established GT racing brands to reach the podium.

A strong performance by the team also saw the No 87 Lexus RC F LMGT3 take the chequered flag in fourth, piloted by Petru Umbarescu (Romania), Clemens Schmid (Austria) and José Maria López (Argentina).

The milestone result at Le Mans further establishes Lexus’s motorsport credentials. In just its third season in WEC, Lexus is challenging more established racing rivals and pushing boundaries, while providing opportunities for different drivers – including young hopefuls and ambitious gentlemen drivers – to participate at the highest level of sportscar competition.

The RC F LMGT3 car, an authentic racing version of the high-performance RC F coupe which is homologated for competition, is a relative newcomer to WEC competition, having made its debut in February 2024. The 2025 season was a breakthrough campaign for the RC F LMGT3, which won two races and helped AKKODIS ASP Team finish third in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Teams.

The next race in the WEC season takes place in São Paulo, Brazil on 12 July.
