Lexus ends the WEC season with victory in Bahrain
Lexus brought its 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season to a successful conclusion with victory in the hotly contested LMGT3 category at the 8 Hours of Bahrain on Saturday (8 November).
The result demonstrates how Lexus is building its performance credentials, challenging more established racing brands and pushing boundaries, while giving racers – both young hopefuls and ambitious gentlemen drivers – opportunities to participate at the highest level of sportscar competition.
The WEC success was achieved by the No87 Lexus RC F entered by the AKKODIS ASP team, driven by Petru Umbarescu (Romania), Clemens Schmid (Austria) and José María López (Argentina). Starting from fourth place on the grid, the car showed impressive performance against intense competition. The No78 RC F, piloted by Arnold Robin (France), Finn Gehrsitz (Germany) and Ben Barnicoat (Great Britain) set the fastest time in LMGT3 qualifying but retired from the race after 40 laps.
The victory moved AKKODIS ASP team up to third place in the final 2025 FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Teams standings, in what was just Lexus’s second season in the championship.
The RC F LMGT3 is a competition-homologated version of the high-performance Lexus RC F coupe. The car made its debut in February 2024, since when the team and drivers have grown stronger together, taking two race victories in 2025.
