Lexus reached a milestone in its motorsports activities when the RC F LMGT3 race car conquered the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium and achieved its first-ever pole position in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Lexus is establishing its performance credentials by challenging more established racing brands and pushing boundaries, whilst providing opportunities for different drivers – including young hopefuls and ambitious gentlemen drivers – to participate at the highest level of sportscar competition.
In qualifying for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the third round of the 2025 WEC season, the No78 Lexus RC F LMGT 3 entered by the private AKKODIS ASP team earned pole position, the first for Lexus in WEC.
The 20-year-old driver Finn Gehrsitz set a best lap time of 2mins 17.732secs around the spectacular 4.3 mile Spa-Francorchamps circuit during the decisive Hyperpole contest, where the top 10 cars fought for the leading grid positions. Earlier, his team-mate Arnold Robin had qualified the No78 car for Hyperpole.
The RC F LMGT3 car, an authentic racing version of the high-performance RC F coupe which is homologated for competition, is a newcomer to WEC competition, having only made its debut in February 2024. Since then, the AKKODIS ASP team and its drivers have grown stronger together with their RC F LMGT3, which earned its first-ever WEC podium at the last round in Imola, Italy.
