Record sales for Lexus in the UK, Europe and worldwide
- Lexus achieved a new record sales volume in the UK in 2024, rising 4.5 per cent to 16,678 units
- Lexus’s European sales rose by 20 per cent to 88,184 vehicles – another new record
- Global sales also reached a new high of 851,214 units
Lexus achieved record new car sales in the UK for a second successive year in 2024 with 16,678 vehicles sold, an increase of 4.5 per cent on the previous year’s performance.
These results contributed to new record figures for both Europe and Lexus’s global performance.
UK performance
Lexus’s 2024 UK results demonstrate the immediate success of the all-new LBX, a model that has taken Lexus into the heart of the compact SUV market. With more than 5,500 units sold during its first year on sale, it has struck a chord with style-savvy customers who want the convenience of a smaller car, but with all the luxury and refinement that are intrinsic to the Lexus brand.
The LBX enjoyed a perfect introduction, being named the What Car? Car of the Year in January 2024.
Alongside the LBX, the Lexus NX continues to be a popular choice in the highly competitive mid-size premium SUV class. In 2024, more than 4,300 were delivered – almost two thirds of these being NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid versions. The model’s all-round excellence was also recognised with the mid-size premium SUV of the year title in the Auto Express New Car Awards – for the third year in succession.
The Lexus range of battery electric vehicles was extended in 2024 with the addition of the front-wheel drive RZ 300e, joining the all-wheel drive RZ 450e and the compact UX 300e. It was also the first full year of sales of the LM, Lexus’s ultimate luxury people carrier, a model that demonstrates how the brand is diversifying its product range to reach new customers.
Lexus continues to be a proud lead sponsor of UK tennis as Official Performance Partner and Official Automotive Partner of the Lawn Tennis Association, a relationship that covers all levels of the sport, from grass-roots activities to support for the nation’s top professionals and teams competing at international level.
Chris Hayes, Director of Lexus in the UK, said: “It is great for everyone who’s part of our brand in the UK – in our centre showrooms and workshops – to witness the positive response to the LBX on its debut. It’s a key part of our strongest range yet, in which every model delivers on the qualities at the heart of our brand, backed by customer service that we strive to continuously improve. The record results in 2024 give us the ideal platform on which to build our performance in the year ahead.”
European and global performance
Lexus has announced record-breaking global sales in 2024, the total rising by 3.3 per cent on 2023’s figures to 851,214 units.
Europe played a significant role in delivering these results, with a 20 per cent increase in its new car sales performance to 88,184 vehicles. This gave its largest share yet of the region’s premium market at 2.5 per cent.
In Europe, the electrified vehicle performance grew by 24 per cent year-on-year to 80,088 sales, accounting for 91% per cent of Lexus sales. In the brand’s Western European market, the mix was 99 per cent.
Announcing the global results today, Lexus International President Takashi Watanabe said: “We would like to thank each and every customer around the world for their continued support of Lexus vehicles. In 2024, we launched the all-new LBX and GX, offering a new value experience that has been highly praised by many customers. Additionally, the new Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama (TTC-S) has begun full-scale operations, giving us the opportunity to launch a new development framework as a company.
“In 2025, we are set to debut new models and showcase innovative concepts. We remain committed to reshaping the future of mobility through innovative engineering and enhancing lifestyles with customer-focused services. Our goal is to continue providing the distinctive value that defines the Lexus experience.”
