Three years, three wins for the Lexus NX 450h+ in the Carbuyer Awards
The Lexus NX has once again been crowned the Best Large Plug-in Hybrid in the Carbuyer Awards, a category the luxury SUV has dominated in the three years since its launch.
Announcing the award today, Carbuyer Editor Paul Barker said: “Our reigning champion has done it again, with the Lexus NX still our favourite large plug-in hybrid for 2025.
“It continues to wow us with its efficiency and refinement, while its build quality is really top notch. It’s one of the most relaxing SUVs to drive on a long trip and it comes with the reassurance of a 10-year warranty, so long as you’re happy to stick with Lexus servicing.”
The current, second generation NX, introduced Lexus’s Next Chapter design and engineering and was the brand’s first model to offer the option of a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Benefiting Lexus’s long-established electrified vehicle expertise, the plug-in system offers a significant advantage compared to its principal rivals in that once battery charge is depleted, the vehicle seamlessly switches to running as a self-charging hybrid. This ensures a high level of fuel economy and emissions efficiency is maintained compared to other plug-in hybrids which default to their petrol engine alone.
Using an 18.1kWh lithium-ion battery, the NX 450h+ has an all-electric range of up to 40 miles, while the combination of 2.5-litre engine and front and rear electric motors produces a maximum 305bhp, giving 0-62mph acceleration in 6.3 seconds. The vehicle is also equipped as standard with Lexus’s intelligent E-Four all-wheel drive.
Powerful, refined and rewarding performance is matched by distinctive contemporary design inside and out. The cabin layout, the application of craftsmanship luxury and the provision of premium quality equipment features combine to deliver supreme comfort and a calm, relaxing environment, true to Lexus’s omotenashi hospitality principles.
