Lexus RX 450h+ honoured in Scottish Car of the Year Awards
The Lexus RX 450h+ has been named the best premium/executive car in the 2023 Scottish Car of the Year Awards. The large luxury plug-in hybrid electric SUV proved the runaway winner in its class, receiving 75 per cent of the votes from the Scottish Motoring Writers Group members.
The judges considered t he RX offered “the best mix of comfort, style, driving dynamics and efficiency” and that it delivers “the best of what a hybrid should be”. Its performance and handling were deemed “ideally suited” to driving conditions in Scotland.
The all-new, fifth generation Lexus RX range was launched in February this year and customers a choice of three electrified powertrains: the self-charging hybrid electric 350h; plug-in hybrid electric 450h+ and performance hybrid electric 500h. The Lexus plug-in hybrid system offers a critical benefit that sets the RX 450h+ apart from its rivals. When the battery charge is depleted, the vehicle switches seamlessly to its self-charging hybrid system, maintaining high fuel and emissions efficiency. This is in contrast to other manufacturers’ systems, where the powertrain defaults to its internal combustion engine.
In common with the rest of the RX range, the RX 450h+ offers craftsmanship luxury throughout, striking contemporary design and an attention to detail in comfort and convenience design that expresses the Lexus omotenashi principle of exceptional hospitality.
