What Car? Research Confirms Lexus as the UK’s Number One Brand for Reliability

Once again, Lexus has been named the country’s most reliable car brand, taking the top ranking in the new What Car? Reliability Survey.

Lexus already holds the 2020 What Car? Reliability Award and has maintained the market-leading performance it achieved in 2019.

Overall, it achieved a 98.7 per cent reliability rating, a score that took into account the real-world experiences of almost 13,000 UK drivers of vehicles ranging in age from brand new to five years old.

The survey’s results are also a validation of the quality and durability of hybrids, with an overall 96.7 per cent class reliability rating. Lexus was the first to bring hybrid technology to the premium market, with the RX 400h SUV in 2005. Today its self-charging hybrid technology is featured in more than 99 per cent of the new cars it sells in the UK, with customers keen to experience its advantages of high fuel and emissions efficiency, refined, responsive performance and, of course, excellent reliability.

Claire Evans, What Car? Consumer Editor, said: “Lexus may be a premium brand, but owners told us they don’t pay a premium price for fault repairs. In fact, they said their cars cost the least to put right and were back on the road quicker than any other brand.”
