Lexus News In Brief
LEXUS RX300 SMASHES SALES RECORDS
The impressive sales performance of the new Lexus RX300 reached new heights in September, with registrations in the first five months of UK sales already establishing a new annual record.
Since launch in early May this year, 2,150 new RX300s have been registered. This easily exceeds the previous record annual total for the first generation RX300 of 1,854 registrations.
September also stood out as a record month for RX300 with 667 registrations, well ahead of the previous best of 437 in September 2001.
The Lexus RX300s qualities of great performance and handling, stylish good looks and unmatched levels of safety and convenience equipment have seen it reap big rewards with sales regularly outperforming those of all its key rivals in the premium SUV market.
LEXUS AT THE 2003 TOKYO MOTOR SHOW
Lexus concept vehicles appearing at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show will be the LF-S (Lexus Future-Sedan), the next generation premium sedan, expressing the Lexus brand’s new conception of luxury and the LF-X (Lexus Future-crossover), an SUV-sports sedan crossover.
Lexus RX Concept with Hybrid Synergy Drive: The core hybrid technology for today and tomorrow
A version of the RX Concept with Hybrid Synergy Drive will also be at the Show. Building on the innovative base of the Toyota Prius, the world’s first mass-produced gasoline-electric hybrid passenger car, Lexus is now introducing a significantly more advanced hybrid technology – Hybrid Synergy Drive – representing a sophisticated fusion of ecology and power. With significant control-system advances and higher operating voltage, it produces motor output 1.5 times greater than that of the previous system, meaning a smoother, more-responsive and dynamic hybrid experience. This Hybrid Synergy Drive concept means achieving a refined balance between minimal environmental impact and increased power. The production version of this vehicle will be available in the UK in approximately 12 months’ time.
