Lexus LC Honoured as Best Coupe in the UK Car of the Year Awards
The newly launched Lexus LC has won the title of best coupe in the 2018 UK Car of the Year Awards.
The model now goes forward for consideration for the overall car of the year title, which will be announced at the end of January.
The judging panel, comprising some of the UK’s most experienced and best-respected motoring journalists, was fulsome in its praise for the LC, describing it as “stunning to look at, great to drive” and “the most head-turning car I drove in 2017”.
Another summed up: “Why do you buy a coupe? To stand out, to be slightly different from the norm? That’s what the Lexus LC does with aplomb. And it’s backed up with generous tech and reliability.”
Ewan Shepherd, Director of Lexus in the UK, said: “The LC is a pivotal car in expressing the exciting new direction Lexus is taking in terms of design, engineering and performance, so it is hugely rewarding to see it being honoured as the best in its class in the UK Car of the Year awards. Launched last summer, the LC is a new flagship coupe for Lexus which showcases the company’s latest advances in design, engineering and technology. It is available with a choice of two powertrains: the LC 500h uses a petrol-electric hybrid V6 powertrain equipped with Lexus’s new Multi Stage Hybrid System, while the LC 500 is powered by a naturally aspirated 471bhp V8 engine, coupled to the world’s first 10-speed direct shift automatic transmission.
