Lexus Approves Tracker For Enhanced Vehicle Security

12 July 2004

Lexus vehicles have been proved in independent testing to be among the most secure in Britain. That built-in protection against crime is now reinforced by Lexus’s approval of TRACKER stolen vehicle recovery systems for its complete range of cars.

Lexus subjected the TRACKER products to rigorous testing to ensure that they met the superior standards that are expected by Lexus customers. Approval has been given to TRACKER Monitor as well as TRACKER’s premium system, TRACKER Horizon. These systems are offered as accessories, which can be installed by Lexus centres, both on new cars and as retro-fit items for existing owners.

Steve Penson, Lexus GB National After Sales Manager, said: “Lexus is proud of its award-winning approach to vehicle security, but we recognise that our customers may demand extra protection against the determined criminal. TRACKER’s systems meet our requirements for the highest quality performance and will provide an excellent safeguard for all Lexus models.

“The peace of mind provided by TRACKER will be particularly welcome to our business and fleet customers, where vehicle security is of added importance.”

TRACKER Monitor includes a remote sensor, which alerts TRACKER HQ if the vehicle is illegally moved and TRACKER Horizon operates as Monitor, but also incorporates satellite positioning technology as well as the tried and tested radio technology.

TRACKER, which is operated by all 52 of the nation’s police forces, is an electronic homing device, hidden within vehicles. Should the vehicle be stolen, the system is activated and emits a silent radio signal. This can be picked up by police detection equipment, leading them to the vehicle’s exact location and sometimes the unsuspecting thieves.

The protection provided by TRACKER is an addition to the exceptional security that is a hallmark of all Lexus models. Lexus has won four successive security awards from What Car? magazine and has the distinction of achieving a maximum 100 points score for protection against theft of and from its vehicles.

A key factor in its performance has been the fitting of laminated side windows on the LS430 flagship model as standard, a first for the UK car market. Lexus also performed strongly in the recent British Insurance Car Security Awards, with the IS200 winning the compact executive car class and the LS430 placed third in the executive/luxury car category.
