Lexus LC to Compete in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring 2018

12 January 2018

The Lexus LC coupe will contest the 46th running of the 24 Hours Nurburgring (12 – 13 May), its first appearance in the event.

The model, introduced a road car just last year, has been adapted to race specification by Lexus mechanics and engineers and makes use of advanced development technologies that are destined to feature in future production models, including sports cars.

These include body technologies to reduce weight and increase rigidity and methods to provide driver assistance, such as enhancing visibility. New aerodynamic measures, engine development to reduce friction and improve fuel economy, and lighter, stronger and more responsive suspension designs are also featured.

In an all-Japanese line-up, lead driver Takeshi Tsuchiya will be joined for the race by three emerging talents – Takamitsu Matsui, Naoya Gamo and Yuichi Nakayama. The car will be entered by Toyota Gazoo Racing.

Tsuchiya said: “The Lexus LC race car is still in its infancy but beginning to take its first steps. It will be some time before it can properly stand on its own, but it will be well worth the effort. I’m delighted to be involved in the company’s efforts towards making ever-better cars for the future. As drivers, the four of us will work together to bring the company’s goals to fruition.
