At your service: the Lexus Climate Concierge
At the best hotels, a concierge will take pride in ensuring guests have everything they need and are perfectly comfortable during their stay. The same attention to hospitality details is key to the Lexus principle of omotenashi and the seamless operation of the onboard Lexus Concierge climate control system.
However hot or cold the temperature might be outside the vehicle, this intelligent system will maintain an ideal cabin environment, adjusted to the preference of each occupant.
First introduced in 2012 in the LS 600h, the then flagship Lexus limousine, it has since undergone continuous improvement and been introduced to multiple models, including the most recent RZ electric SUV and LM luxury mover.
The Lexus Climate Concierge goes further than conventional multi-zone air conditioning systems by using an array of infra-red sensors that constantly monitor the surface body temperature of occupants of different seats. It will also take into account additional factors affecting the cabin environment, such as sunlight through the windows.
Heating and ventilation sources are finely adjusted to ensure the optimum warmth or cooling is provided at all times. The system co-ordinates operation of the heated steering wheel and integrated seat heating and ventilation as well as air vents throughout the cabin to deliver prompt response. Efficiency is designed-in with the S-flow system that detects if a seat is unoccupied and adjusts air conditioning performance accordingly.
The RZ is the first Lexus model to adopt a radiant heating system that warms the legs of the driver and front passenger. This energy-efficient feature has also been integrated into the Climate Concierge system.
Using the Lexus Link app, owners do not have to wait until they enter the vehicle for the Climate Concierge to operate but can activate the air conditioning in advance so the car is suitably warmed or cooled before they depart.
In today’s Lexus models, air quality is also monitored and maintained, using the nanoe-X system which feeds trillions of water molecules into the ventilation air flow. This counters bad odours and can inhibit viruses, bacteria, allergens and the spread of mould. It also has a moisturising effect that is beneficial to human hair and skin.
