In just its first year of sales, the Lexus LBX has held true to its promise of changing the face of luxury motoring, delivering premium quality and style without compromise in a compact crossover that’s eminently stylish, affordable and appealing to a whole new audience for the Lexus brand. It’s Lexus’ relentless focus on quality – both physical and perceived – in every detail that distinguishes the LBX from its competitors.

In terms of simple dimensions, it’s the smallest Lexus yet, but its size has been no barrier to making this a model that redefines the meaning of luxury in its class. It offers more than simply a wealth of choice in premium equipment features and a great driving experience; it delivers Lexus’s craftsmanship and human-centred omotenashi hospitality. This is achieved with a more casual, contemporary feel that captures changing popular perceptions of what luxury means.

It shifts the dial for the brand, diversifying its product range with new thinking to shape a fresh future for Lexus and its customers.

It’s a proposition that customers have responded to in their thousands, putting the LBX firmly on course to become Lexus’ top-selling model in Europe.

While its agile, highly manoeuvrable character makes it a natural for urban streets, it’s just at home on the open road, as a recent expedition in the mountain landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island reveals.

Lexus vehicles are conceived to open up the possibilities of amazing experiences for their owners – in the case of the LBX, making the “everyday extraordinary”. To demonstrate what this means in practice, Lexus headed to New Zealand for an adventure programme which immersed guests, including influencers and lifestyle commentators from around the world, in the rich and varied local culture, cuisine, nature and outdoor pursuits. The itinerary combined off-road trails, remote scenic roads as well as exploration by air and water, introducing the adventurers to the country’s natural wonders.

Capturing the spirit of a Lexus “Amazing Experience,” the event illustrated the diversity and wide appeal of Lexus’s current product portfolio, showcasing the latest all-new models: the LBX, the GX off-roader – a global model not sold in the UK – and the LM “luxury mover”.

Moving away from the traditions of premium quality motoring, Lexus has made luxury personal with the new LBX, giving each customer the chance to create a car that best suits their individual style. That’s accomplished with discerning and distinctive range of options, from eye-catching exterior colours to different interior upholsteries, textures and trims.

The tech dimension extends from the latest, super-efficient hybrid powertrain to seamless onboard connectivity and multimedia experience, including wireless smartphone integration and cloud-based navigation that benefits from moment-by-moment traffic intelligence. There is also the peace of mind provided by the same Lexus Safety System+ advanced and intelligent safety and assistance systems found on all Lexus models, supporting the driver at every step of the journey.
