Lexus LC Coupe to Return to the Nürburgring 24 Hours

17 December 2019

The Lexus LC will compete in the Nürburgring 24 Hours this spring (21 to 24 May), lining up for the endurance race at the world-famous circuit in Germany for a third time.

The team will draw on the experience gained in previous years to improve the car’s performance and also try out new technologies, including a new V8 twin-turbo engine destined for use in future road cars.

Its participation will also help Lexus explore areas of design and engineering that can be applied to its road-going models: –

  • Body development – optimal low-weight and high-rigidity body structure, improved aerodynamic components and driver assistance technologies.
  • Suspension development – low-weight and high-rigidity suspension, lightweight wheels and high-response shock absorbers.
  • Driving control development – advances in vehicle stability control, traction control, ABS and other control systems.

The LC will be driven by an experienced team, led by chief driver Hiroaki Ishiura who will be taking part in the race for a sixth time. He will be joined by Masahiro Sasaki, Kazuya Oshima and Naoya Gamo.

This year will mark Lexus’s 14th consecutive appearance at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, taking on one of the world’s most gruelling circuits in cars built by Lexus employees and prepared by a team of company mechanics and engineers.
